Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process that allows you to use the skills, knowledge, and experience you already have from work, training, or overseas study to gain a nationally recognised Australian Qualification.

It means you don’t need to start from scratch or repeat skills or training you’ve already mastered!

You may be closer to a qualification than you think. In many cases, the assessment can be completed using your existing evidence such as work samples, references, or prior training certificates without the need for additional study or testing.

If you’ve earned a qualification overseas and discovered it isn’t recognised in Australia, Certigo can help bridge that gap. We offer fast, simple, and fully remote RPL pathways through our partner RTOs to align your international credentials with Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) standards.

STEPS To RPL QUALIFICATION

1.Initial Consultation

We begin with a pre-assessment to understand your experience, skills, and suitability for RPL. This helps identify the relevant qualification and units of competency.

2.Evidence Collection

You will be guided to provide quality evidence that demonstrates your competency. This may include:

• Resume and employment history

• Work samples and job tasks

• Third-party reports (e.g. employer verification)

• Existing qualifications or certifications

All evidence must be authentic, current, sufficient, and valid in line with compliance requirements.

3.Competency Assessment

A qualified assessor from our partnered RTO will evaluate your evidence against nationally recognised units of competency. Additional methods such as interviews, practical demonstrations, or challenge tasks may be used if required.

4.Gap Training (if needed)

If any gaps are identified, you will only need to complete targeted training for those specific areas no unnecessary study.

5.Qualification Issuance

Once competency is confirmed, the RTO will issue a nationally recognised qualification or Statement of Attainment within 2 to 3 weeks.
